E-Learning Maturity Model
E-Learning Capability Determination: An Australian Pilot of the e-Learning Maturity Model

The aim of this project is to apply the e-Learning Maturity Model (eMM) to a small number of Australian universities. This would build on the successful New Zealand work and complement similar work being undertaken in the UK. Once completed, this work will allow for a meaningful international comparison of e-learning capability within and between the three regions involved.

Particular issues addressed by the project include:

  1. is the methodology appropriate for Australian institutions and governance processes;
  2. are the identified processes significant and appropriate as identifiers of e-learning capability;
  3. can within institution assessments be meaningfully conducted and at what level (campus, faculty, department)

This document provides an analysis of the similarities and differences in topic coverage between the ACODE Benchmarks and version 2.3 of the eMM. It was created by analysing each item in the ACODE Benchmarks and then mapping that item, as assessed in the ACODE system, against the eMM process and practice set. Three levels of mapping were identified: a strong correspondence, displayed as a red box in the images; a weak correspondence, displayed as a pink box; and an absence of correspondence, displayed as a white box. The ACODE benchmarks contain 109 items arranged in 8 areas, the main body of this document contains maps for all 109 items, a summary is provided at the beginning.
