PHELT Certificate
Postgraduate Higher Education Learning and Teaching Certificate
The PHELT Cert (Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education
Learning and Teaching) is a 60-point, Master’s level qualification
that provides a focused, thorough, practically applicable grounding in
the best current teaching and learning-related research, theory, and evidence-based
practice in higher education. It is designed for tertiary teachers with
backgrounds in disciplines other than education.
There are three modules to the Certificate. The first module, UTDC501:
Foundations of Higher Education Learning and Teaching, is a post-graduate level investigation into current theories of teaching and learning and related research, and will next take place in the second trimester of 2011. During
this course participants will develop an outline for a research project.
The second two modules involve individual research: UTDC502 is
focused on implementing and writing up the project designed in UTDC501 and UTDC503 is the development of a professional teaching
portfolio.
